This is a series of 26 programs, in Portuguese, lasting 15 minutes each, in which the viewer will find all the information he needs to master the language of drawing:
the fundaments of drawing, the creative process and drawing the human figure. It is shown that drawing is more than graphisms on paper: it is the basis of all visual activity and, as images are ever more present in our daily lives, it is important that everyone understand this language. With this information,
the viewer will discover that he can develop his visual perception, stimulate the attributes of the right hemisphere of the brain and also work on his expressiveness and creativity, through drawing. With practice, he will be able to master it and proceed to artistic expression.
All the programs are full of demonstrations, done live, in various techniques: pencil, watercolour, soft and oil pastels, pen and ink and oil on canvas. There are many examples of paintings and how the concepts can be applied outside the visual arts and, in each program, exercises to practice these concepts are suggested.
The series was recorded at the SENAI studios, except for the first program, taped at the São Paulo Museum of Art, Assis Chateaubriand, MASP, and directed by Cristina Winther. The script, based on the book Freehand - The Language of Drawing, was written by Philip Hallawell, who also presents the programs.
